Public Address

A public address is a cryptographic code that allows users to receive assets in a cryptocurrency wallet. Public addresses are also called public keys but differ in technicalities which also differ from private keys, used to send crypto assets to another wallet. A public crypto address consists of a mixture of numerous letters and numbers to conceal the user’s identity.

Public addresses serve the same purpose as bank account details except cryptographic technology protects the user’s identity. Public keys and addresses are safe to share with anyone without risk. Public keys are intertwined with private keys creating asymmetric cryptography, which gives users unforgeable signatures.

Public addresses are not the same for all cryptocurrencies, even on an exchange. A user has a different public address or different token standards for each wallet and account.
